Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Executive William R. Steinhaus, Bardavon Executive Director Chris Silva, and Cumulus Media General Manager Chuck Benfer are pleased to announce a summer concert featuring singer/songwriter legend Kenny Loggins with The Hudson Valley Philharmonic (HVP) on Sunday, August 5th at Dutchess County’s Bandshell at Bowdoin Park on Sheafe Road in the Town of Poughkeepsie. A spectacular fireworks display will follow the concert event.

“Bring a picnic, lawn chair and some blankets to enjoy a great night with the family on the hillside overlooking the Hudson River at Bowdoin Park and sing along to your favorite Kenny Loggins song,” said County Executive Steinhaus.

Kenny Loggins, his band and the HVP will perform all his hits—This is It, What a Fool Believes, I’m Alright, I Believe in Love, Footloose, Conviction of the Heart and more—in a rare area concert appearance. Opening for Kenny Loggins and appearing with him is the region’s premier symphony orchestra, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic.  The orchestra will also perform with the spectacular fireworks grand finale!

This concert is the third major concert event at Duchess County’s Bandshell at Bowdoin Park.  In 2005, the band America with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic drew over 10,000 people and in 2006, more than 14,000 people enjoyed the Peter Frampton and the HVP concert.

According to County Executive Steinhaus, “our county park venue is the ideal location to provide county residents the opportunity to enjoy musical productions while experiencing the breathtaking views of the majestic Hudson River as a backdrop.   These events are exactly what we were envisioning when we first thought of building the Bandshell at Bowdoin Park.”   He continued, “We are excited to be teaming with the Bardavon and WPDH 101.5 again this year to host the outstanding combination of Kenny Loggins and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic to provide a true family event and proudly show off this spectacular new facility.  This concert is part of our commitment to enhance our county parks for the enjoyment of our residents.”

The Hudson Valley Philharmonic begins their 49th exhilarating season and 9th under the management of the Bardavon. Recent seasons have been as star-studded as any at the New York Philharmonic with solo turns from Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell, Andre Watts, Vladimir Feltsman and Angel Romero. Randall Craig Fleischer begins his 15th season as music director of the HVP. Under the leadership of Maestro Fleischer, the orchestra has blossomed into one of the region's major cultural and educational assets.  His classical presentations as well as his collaborations with Natalie Merchant, John Cale, Richie Havens and America have won standing ovations from audiences throughout the Hudson Valley.

Vehicle passes for Kenny Loggins with the Hudson Valley Philharmonic on Sunday, August 5th, 2007 at Bowdoin Park go on sale Tuesday, May 22nd for only $60 per car which includes onsite parking and admission for all passengers.
