Poughkeepsie...The Dutchess County Department of Finance will hold the 2014 Real Property Tax Foreclosure Real Estate Auction on Wednesday, October 8 at the Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel. Approximately 150 properties with delinquencies from unpaid taxes levied in 2011 will be auctioned in order to return the properties to the tax rolls.
The list of available properties is subject to change as property owners have until October 7th to regain the properties. The County acquired the deeds to these properties following a lengthy process to settle the delinquent taxes. This process began in 2012 and included multiple mailings and public notice publications. “Auctioning the property is a last resort after other avenues for collecting the unpaid taxes have been exhausted,” said Dutchess County Commissioner of Finance Heidi Seelbach. The annual auction provides an opportunity for parcels to again be productive, taxpaying properties.”
The auction will be conducted by the NYSAuctions.com’s team of Absolute Auctions & Realty, Inc. and Haroff Auction & Realty, Inc.. All auction information, including the entire list of properties and the auction brochure, is available on the auctioneers’ website: www.NYSAuctions.com. A printed auction brochure is also available at any Town or Village Hall within Dutchess County, the Dutchess County Clerk’s Office, Real Property Office or Finance Commissioner’s Office located at 22 Market Street in the City of Poughkeepsie, or by calling 1-800-243-0061.
A “Public Bidder’s Seminar” will be held at Absolute Auction Center, 45 South Avenue in Pleasant Valley on Monday, October 6th at 7PM. This informative seminar is particularly useful for those attending the tax foreclosure auction for the first time. Auction Terms and Conditions as well as useful tips will be provided to help bidders to become more informed buyers. Early “Bidder Registration” will be conducted from 6:00PM to 7:00PM immediately preceding the seminar.
Several improved properties will be made available for preview on Tuesday, October 7. A detailed showing schedule will be posted to www.NYSAuctions.com on Saturday, Oct. 4. Auction-day registration will begin at The Poughkeepsie Grand Hotel promptly at 9:00AM. Prospective purchasers must register and provide a photo ID such as a valid driver’s license or passport and social security number (state filing receipt proving incorporation and EIN for entities) before obtaining a bidding number. The deed will be issued in the name/entity that is on the registration forms, and ownership of the property is conveyed when the deed is recorded in the Dutchess County Clerk’s Office.
All properties are sold “as is” and prospective bidders are urged to complete their research prior to bidding at the auction.
