The Dutchess County Comptroller’s Office has released a follow-up report for the Justice and Transition Center (JTC) and the Law Enforcement Center (LEC) capital project as of December 31, 2023. This is the sixth follow-up report released by the Comptroller’s Office, all prior reports can be found on the County’s website.
The LEC was completed in 2019, and the JTC was occupied in March 2024, with building completion nearing 100%. The JTC project will continue with other phases including the demolition of the 1984 jail building, the demolition of the temporary housing PODs, and final site work which is expected to conclude in November of 2024. The proposed project to build a homeless shelter in the 1995 jail building was cancelled after the NYS
Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance awarded a $13 million grant to Dutchess County in April 2024. This grant will cover the capital costs for upgrading the property at 26 Oakley Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Capital Project H0487 – DC Justice & Transition Center is the only active account. As of December 31, 2023, $192,150,000 has been appropriated, $166,889,273 has been encumbered and/or expensed, with $25,260,727 remaining.
