We are experiencing an ever changing weather pattern this winter. Snow, ice, rains and strong winds thrown in for good measure. Be aware of the changing weather conditions and Be Prepared. Our Emergency Management Office is constantly monitoring the weather events and has helpful tips and warnings which can be reached via the link above this article, as well as on the index to the left of this article. Please take the time to read these notes and again Be Prepared to react when events require.
Our training program is in full swing. Our assigned State Fire Instructors (SFI) and County Fire Instructors (CFI) are booked solid with classes through the first quarter of 2008. We will await word from Albany as to they amount of training hours we will receive in the 2008-09 training season.
Construction on Phase 1 of the Campus Master Plan has started. Phase 1 will update the 1929 plumbing, heating and electrical systems still in use in our building. A new state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center will be built as well as a tiered seating learning lab to provide training for our emergency service personnel. We look forward to a completion of Phase 1 in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Our Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is still recruiting volunteers. The MRC was established to create teams of local volunteer medical and public health professionals who can contribute their skills and expertise throughout the year and during times of community need.
