Stabilization Center - About Us




The Dutchess County Stabilization Center is a walk-in facility located at 230 North Road in Poughkeepsie for people feeling overwhelmed by mental health, substance use, or other life issues, such as:

  • Emotional distress
  • Anxiety and/or Depression
  • Psychiatric symptoms
  • Addiction
  • Intoxication
  • Family issues 

We are:

  • open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • available to Dutchess County residents of all ages
  • a safe, comfortable, secure, and welcoming environment
  • a recognized alternative to a hospital emergency department


We will connect you, immediately, to the resources and support you need.

Services at the Stabilization Center include:

  • Crisis counseling and mental health assessments
  • Supervised outpatient withdrawal services
  • Addictions and substance use counseling
  • Peer advocacy and supports
  • Youth and family counseling
  • Linking to community-based resources

The Center is offered as a service of the Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health in partnership with: 

  • Astor Services for Children & Families
  • Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Centers
  • MidHudson Regional Hospital of Westchester Medical Center
  • PEOPLe, Inc.
